Ok… so I’m annoying even myself with this one. This powder bath was originally updated only 5 years ago and has been through a few update plans already. What started as a quick refresh turned into a “do I actually hate this floor tile?” spiral (which is yes… I think I do), and now we’re here. The goal isn’t a full gut job, because that would be insane, just an update that makes the space feel intentional and helps me stop glaring at the tile every time I walk in.
If I’m being honest, this whole update is because over the last few years my design style has really evolved from a more traditional, farmhouse, European inspired, to a more eclectic style with timeless influences. The original plan was wallpaper, penny tile, and keeping the existing fixtures. Below is a photo of the wallpaper I landed on.

You can see the attempt on one wall where I tried peel-and-stick wallpaper that completely destroyed my drywall when I went to pull it off… will finish peeling that off soon. *merp* Safe to say I’m not a fan of this wallpaper as a temporary option. But I do love the pattern and color! Linked [here] if you are looking for something more permanent.

I also considered covering this floor with some kind of penny tile. This is something I saw Zenia do, and since Heritage Builders installed the existing tile, I know it’s solid and done right, so it was an option. But instead of layering new on top, I’m leaving it and working with what’s here.
One thing I will say about this tile: it hides dust and dirt better than anything. With two kids, two dogs, and a husband, that is something that truly matters.

The goal now is to use paint and accessories I actually love and hope the floor feels more intentional.

So now the plan is simple: leave the floor, build around it, and see if the whole room finally feels like it belongs together. Fingers crossed that I can finally fall in love with it!
It’s not the dramatic makeover I wish I could afford, but sometimes design is more about problem-solving than anything else. This powder bath update feels like the middle ground between what I wanted and what really makes sense for the space (and our budget).
