A Stunning Kitchen Transformation: Bright, Open, and Traditionally Modern

Hey friends!

We recently had the pleasure of transforming a client’s kitchen into a bright, open, and traditionally modern space that perfectly blends functionality and style. This project involved several major changes, including relocating the stairs to the basement, opening up the room to the living area, and reconfiguring the layout to create a more cohesive and inviting environment.

These were such fun clients to work with and I am so happy that everything turned out just as they envisioned. We turned this tiny, cramped space into the kitchen of their dreams. Let’s dive into it!

Relocating the Stairs and Opening Up the Space

One of the key elements of this remodel was relocating the stairs to the basement. This change allowed us to maximize the kitchen’s floor space. Then by removing a wall, we opened up the kitchen to the living space, creating a seamless transition between the two rooms. The result is an open-concept design that makes the entire area feel more spacious, bright, and connected.

The green wall was removed, and the stairs were relocated to the wall that the TV previously hung on.

To further enhance the functionality of the kitchen, we removed an existing window to relocate the stove to the back wall.

This view shows you just how small the kitchen was. It had hardly any room for cabinets and no room for entertaining.

See where we closed in the kitchen window. But don’t worry, we added larger windows in other areas to keep all the natural light.

This move not only created a more efficient cooking area but also allowed us to install a stunning tile backsplash using white Cloe tile from Bedrosians. The tile’s subtle texture and gloss add a touch of elegance and with the addition of this gorgeous, polished nickel pot filler, the stove area truly became the focal point of the kitchen.

Elegant Finishes and Fixtures

The clients wanted a kitchen that felt bright and airy, yet warm and inviting. We achieved this by selecting cabinets in a warm off-white shade, which pair beautifully with white quartz countertops featuring subtle warm grey veining. The combination of these elements creates a timeless and sophisticated look that perfectly aligns with the traditionally modern aesthetic the clients was looking for.

For the fixtures, we chose a polished nickel bridge sink faucet and a polished nickel pot filler, both from Kingston Brass. These fixtures added the perfect touch of classic elegance to the space.

Stylish Flooring and Kitchen Appliances

To complete the look, we installed medium dark-stained oak engineered hardwood flooring, which adds warmth and depth to the space. The rich tones of the flooring contrast beautifully with the lighter cabinets and countertops and adding a sense of coziness. The new stainless-steel appliances bring a sleek, modern touch to the kitchen. Ensuring that the space is not only beautiful but also equipped with the latest technology.

The Final Result: A Bright, Open, and Timeless Kitchen

The clients’ vision for a bright and open kitchen was brought to life through careful planning & thoughtful design choices. The new layout maximizes the space and improves the flow between the kitchen and living area, while the elegant finishes and fixtures create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
