I told myself I wasn’t going to spend half of August glued to my Kindle, but here we are. This month’s lineup was a mix of long fics that had me completely absorbed and shorter ones that still managed to ruin my plans for the night. What they all had in common was that classic, obsessive Dramione pull: complicated history, biting dialogue, and enough tension to keep me saying “just one more chapter” way too many times. You know… the good stuff.
Here’s what I obsessed over this month:
Mirror Image by GalacticSiren (linked here)
Words: 94k | Chapters: 20 | Completed
Draco finds out decades after a short affair with Hermione that he has twin sons. They are Quidditch stars, they look just like him, and suddenly his past is standing right in front of him. The story balances family drama with emotional fallout and manages to weave in plenty of laughs that make the heavier parts fit perfectly.

The Witching Hour by neilistic (linked here)
Words: 12k | Chapters: 1 | Completed
This one-shot is quiet but powerful. Hermione is raising a child alone, and Draco finds himself in the same position. It is understated, carefully written, and lingers long after you finish. Pulling that much weight in just 12k words takes some serious skill, and this fic pulls it off effortlessly.

Luna Vinculum by MaryBMeunier (linked here)
Words: 123k+ | Chapters: 20 of 45 | WIP
During the Battle of Hogwarts Draco is bitten by a werewolf. Hermione is the only one who knows. When they return for their eighth year that secret becomes impossible to ignore. The fic leans into possession (enter possessive Draco), protection, and a slow burn that stretches out in a way that makes you want to keep turning pages. It is intense and still updating, which makes it even more addictive.

Draco and the Excellent, Amazing, No Bad, Very Good Day by LadyUrsa (linked here)
Words: 3k | Chapters: 1 | Completed
This is pure comedy. Draco wants tea, Felix Felicis intervenes, and things unravel quickly. It is short, funny, and the exact kind of fic that works perfectly as a break between heavier, longer reads.

On the Perils of Free Advice by worksofstone (linked here)
Words: 16k | Chapters: 1 | Completed
Draco is somehow hired to write a sex advice column despite having no experience (aka virgin Draco). Hermione calls him out and it escalates quickly. The setup is ridiculous, the banter is sharp, and the story lands as both funny and unexpectedly charming.

The Binding by Curly_Kay (linked here)
Words: 175k | Chapters: 35 | Completed
An infant binding ritual ties Draco and Hermione’s magic together for life. The story follows them as they grow, weaving in tension, connection, and inevitability. It is a longer read, but one that is most definitely worth the time.

Wrap-Up
August had a little bit of everything: secret children, supernatural curses, and a short fic about tea gone wrong. The mix worked, and it kept me reading straight through the month. If you are looking for something new to dive into, this is a solid place to start. If you are looking for more recommendations, check out my page here.
As always, this is me begging for more recs because I have an addiction (obviously)! Leave them below pretty please 🙂
