Hey friends! This week is one of those less glamorous, totally necessary phases: sub week. For us, that means plumbing and electrical. No walls going up, no fixtures going in; just the kind of behind-the-scenes work that keeps things from catching fire or flooding. You know, the basics.
We didn’t change the layout, but we did have to deal with a bit of a mess under the surface. The sink was so backed up it was completely unusable (for the last 3 years 😑). The interior of the pipes that were removed will be burned into my brain for life. Black sludge and buildup that looked like it belonged in a horror movie, not a bathroom.
And the shower pipes… galvanized. Aka rusted metal relics that definitely should not still be in service. On top of that, the wiring was outdated and just… wrong. It technically “worked,” but not in a way an electrician would feel comfortable with.
Enter: The Sub Professionals
So, this week, the pros are here updating everything… clean runs of pipe, safe wiring, and code-compliant everything. It’s not the most thrilling part of the remodel, but it’s what makes the rest of the transformation possible. This is the stuff that lets you actually use the bathroom without wondering if you’re one shower away from disaster.

Thankfully, Heritage Builders is managing all of this with their usual thoroughness. Their team coordinates the subcontractors, ensuring that each step is handled efficiently and up to code. It’s so reassuring to have professionals who not only know what they’re doing but also keep the project moving smoothly.

Thanks for following along during the not-so-pretty parts. It means a lot to have people cheering this thing on, even when it’s just pipe guts and old wiring. If you’re into this kind of chaos, stick around! Once the subs wrap, we’re diving headfirst into finishes, and I might need your help choosing.
