Hello again!
This holiday season, we’re going full Kitsch Christmas. I want vintage, I want colorful, I want borderline tacky—but in that cool, fun way. Think Anthropologie meets your grandma’s attic treasures, with a sprinkle of Gen Z flair. That’s the vibe this year.
To kick things off, I’m giving my gift wrapping a little extra personality and thought I’d share the plan! Brown paper, twine, vintage ornaments, and a few quirky touches are transforming plain packages into something festive and memorable. My favorite part? I’m using enamel pins as name tags. Instead of writing names, I’m picking pins that reflect each person’s quirks, interests, or, in some cases, what I could actually find (hey, it’s the thought that counts).
If you’re ready to level up your gift-wrapping game with some serious festive energy, here’s how to make it happen!

The Wrapping Game Plan
The Foundation: Brown Paper
Let’s start with the base: brown paper. It’s simple, timeless, and doesn’t scream “holiday” in an obnoxious way. Plus, it gives the details a chance to shine. It’s like the quiet friend in the group who makes everyone else look good. Here’s the brown paper I’m using.
Twine and Tassels for Texture
Twine is a must—it adds that rustic, slightly “I tried but not too hard” vibe. To keep things from feeling too bare, I threw in some tassels on a few packages. They’re colorful, fun, and just kitschy enough to say, “I had a vision.” If you’re feeling the tassel energy, grab your twine here and tassels here.
Satin and Wired Ribbons
I’m pulling out the big guns with a mix of satin and wired holiday ribbon. Satin for that soft, simple look, while the wired ribbon adds structure and festive patterns that bring the drama. (Some of the wired ribbon is from previous years because, yes, I am that person who has rolls upon rolls of leftover ribbon.) Together, they make the wrapping feel holly jolly but not overworked. Here’s the satin ribbon I’m using, and if you’ve got leftover ribbon hoarded from last Christmas, this is your sign to use it.
A Few Vintage Ornaments
For a little extra flair, I’m adding vintage ornaments to some of the gifts. They’re not just cute—they’re keepsakes, too. It’s the kind of detail that makes people stop and go, “Wait, can I reuse this?” (Answer: yes.) You can pick up a set of ornaments here if you’re into that timeless, nostalgic charm.
Enamel Pins as Personalized Tags
Here’s the pièce de résistance: enamel pins as name tags. I chose each pin to reflect something that reminds me of the recipient—whether it’s their favorite snack, a random inside joke, or a favorite movie. It feels more personal, thoughtful, and way more fun than a paper tag. Plus, it doubles as a mini gift they can actually keep! Check out a bundle with some of the enamel pins I used here, though I sourced mine from everywhere—Shein, TikTok Shop, Amazon. Let’s be real, half the fun was hunting for them.
