Bathroom renovation time!
Hey everyone! I am so excited to share this post with you as it means we are getting closer to starting our main bathroom renovation. I am going to take you through our plans for the remodel, as well as all the stunning bathrooms that inspired us.
I’ll start by saying there are a few elements that I knew that I wanted for our bathroom: tongue and groove paneling, mixed metals, and an earthy color palette. I do plan on incorporating all of these in the design plans.
The style of our home is somewhere between modern cottage, farmhouse, and tranditional. Is it too much to ask that my home look eclectic, brand new, and vintage all at the same time?!? Maybe, but I think we can make this work!
Now for the inspiration…
The first home I was truly inspired by is this main bathroom remodel done by the Identite Collective. The neutral, yet rich, color palette is to die for! Everything about it simple, yet stunning.
I love the mix of metals, and the Zellige style tiles will always be a favorite of mine.
Modern cottage dreaming…
It was love at first site when I saw this modern cottage renovation on Chrislovesjulia.com. The archway, the mixed metals, the moody palette, ugh! I love it so much. Julia’s attention to detail is seriously unmatched. This bathroom is a perfect combination of old and new.
Vintage perfection…
For our final bit of inspiration, it comes from this bathroom remodel by Whittney Parkinson Designs. This entire 1920’s tudor remodel is stunning, but something about this bathroom really spoke to me. The green vanity really pulls the natural greens out in the marble floor and shower tile. I also love how she mixed in the vintage sconces and mirror. It’s so easy to see why I’m so in love with this space!
Now, on to my remodel plans…
As I said before, I want to keep this bathroom a mixture of old and new. That being said, the tile I selected for the shower wall is a classic white subway tile. We will be using some black pencil inlays to tie in the black in the floor tile.
For the floors, I have completely ignored what everyone has said about not doing marble because I can’t not love it! I went back and forth on the style of marble tile, but ultimately, I landed on a smaller profile mosaic.

For the vanity, we had originally planned on having one custom made through Heritage Builders, they do amazing custom work! However, the more I thought about it, I think budget wise it makes more sense to buy a complete vanity set. That way we can save some money on having a top and sink included.
We are torn between the more open style that we love and the need for more storage because, well… kids.
These are a couple of the vanity options we are looking at. Both will come with a Carrara marble top. Tell us what you think in the comments!

Finishes…
I love the look of mixed metals, so we will be doing a mixture of polished nickel for the faucets, and we are planning on doing a mix of brass & black for the lighting and other hardware.

I like vanity #2 best….but # 1 would definitely give you more storage. Oh and it would be so gorgeous with the white tile. You have great taste so I have no doubt it will be beautiful whatever you choose. Hope you’re starting soon!
